Can I get a Crohn's diagnosis removed somehow?
I was diagnosed with Crohn's a few years back, and had to undergo some treatments. I haven't had any problems with it for well over a year or so, and I live a perfectly normal life. I've been wanting to join the Peace Corps for a very long time now, and apparently Crohn's is a disqualification. I know that the Peace Corps can be pretty tough, but I'd like to help, experience a new culture, and help improve my self-discipline.
So my question is, is there a way to get a diagnosis for Crohn's removed from my record so I am no longer disqualified? If not, is there some other way I could possibly join, even having it as a diagnosis? Thanks for your answers!

You cannot "remove" a diagnosis. A diagnosis is part of your medical history and you cannot change that.
Crohn's is *usually* a disqualifer for Peace Corps, but there can be exceptions.Have you actually spoken to Peace Corps about it, or are you going on what you have heard?
Please keep in mind Peace Corps wants to keep volunteers SAFE and HEALTHY. Your health is paramount, and if Peace Corps can't place you in a country where you can have access to what keeps you safe and healthy, please don't hold it against them.
The good news is, you don't seem to grasp what Peace Corps is.You can "help" in your own community; you don't have to join Peace Corps for that. Peace Corps isn't about learning a new culture or improving your self-discipline. It's is about performing community service in a community that happens to be elsewhere.
So if your bottom line is you want to help make the world a better place, Crohn's disease won't limit you.
