It's from China because labor is cheap there and they're very good at manufacturing consumer goods.

Almost everything is made in China, including legitimate, big-name brands. It is very cheap labor and (generally) excellent products. The person who made your $200 purse was probably paid 25 cents to make it. Though clearly the production should be more regulated, considering all the lead scares we've gotten from China-made goods.
