Should I just give up on my hopes of getting a girlfriend till high school is over?

Every time I like a girl, they always and i mean ALWAYS see me as just a friend. I get too shy and nervous to tell them how i feel and as i get more and more attached, they begin dating some a**hole and i just get hurt. Only time it didnt happen was with my ex-gf. I have only had one girlfriend (long distance) and it started it off as some of the happiest days of my life, but, eventually we grew apart because she was always busy, I thought about her all day every day, we rarely got to talk and after almost 4 months, she became less busy and our relationship seemed to be improving and we started talking every day again and then she told me she cheated on me, we broke up. It took me months to get over her. After i finally got over her my friend tried hooking me up with this girl and both me and him really thought she liked me, she just saw me as a friend. I really want a girlfriend and to fall in love and when I see other people in relationships and all happy i want to feel how they feel, but, no matter how hard i try i cant get it to work. What do i do? Should i just give up?
