Should Paying First Class Passengers be delayed by coach people?

I am an elite frequent flyer and log a lot of miles on several carriers in both the United States and abroad. I was recently flying from Atlanta to JFK, returning from a very important social engagement in PAID FIRST CLASS (paid for by me, not my employer, with money, not frequent flyer miles). We were all set for an ontime departure when they suddenly announced that there was a problem with the lavatories. I was annoyed, but I understood. It was not until I spoke with a flight attendant that I became really annoyed. It was not the regular lavatories that were having problems, but the COACH lavatories. The delay wound up being nearly 40 mintues. To me, this is completely unacceptable for such a short flight. I find it completely inappropriate to delay first class passengers due to some issue in coach or business. Sure, I would not want a bunch of coach people using the first class lavatory, but I guess it would be acceptable in an absolute emergency. I think the airline mishandled this situation, and the first class passenegrs should be entitled to compensation. How should I go about handling this?

The nerve of those peasants in economy class, how dare they expect to have a working toilet on the plane! They should have to wallow in their own feces and urine, and not be allowed to leave their seats. If just one of those filthy coach passengers even attempted to use the 1st class toilet, I would demand a full refund and monetary compensation as well.

Hire an attorney, and sue the crap out of the airline and any coach passenger that even thought about using the 1st class toilets. Demand that the airline supplies plastic cups and butt plugs for those nasty little peons.

"It was not the regular lavatories that were having problems, but the COACH lavatories." What are you trying to say??

I agree with you paying first class passengers shouldn't be delayed by coach people, but the problem was with the airline, none of the coach passengers did anything to delay you. Other than regulations, coach people deserve to be in an airplane with working toilets, they have paid money to use coach seats, toilets, food and services. Too bad the coach is attached to your first class cabin, flying in commercial airplanes is a form of PUBLIC transport. The solution to your complaint would be the airline flying another airplane, but the would take much more than 40 minutes to be ready.

    Hi JohnT,

I can only assume you didn't like any of the answers you got a few days ago when you posted the exact same "question". I have a funny feeling you won't like any of these answers any better.

The kind of self-importance you show is not attractive. Nor is it going to score you any points!

Your poop does not smell any better than anybody elses, so just suck it up.

You were only delayed for 2 hours... Oh wait, now the delay was only 40 minutes??

Besides... Lavatories are a NO-GO item, meaning that if a sufficient number of lavatories are out of service, the aircraft is not legal to take flight. Personally, I think you're a troll!!

A 40 minute delay is nothing. You can gripe all you want to the airlines but I doubt they will do anything. At most they will send you a letter apologizing for any inconvenience.

Plus the last time you posted this, I thought it was a business meeting, not a social engagement.

so how do you propose they should have handled it? I don't understand this, you were delayed going on the plane because of the toilets or the departure was delayed and you were all already seated? what did you expect them to do ?

Just because coach passengers paid less than you, they were still entitled to a working toilet! get over yourself

Why do you bother repeating so many of your questions? Didn't the truth hurt enough in the replies you received a few days ago, or do you just enjoy being a troll?
