Please help me! Need to loose weight but gained some on the diet!?
I'm 5"7 and weight 150lbs. I was put on birth control 3 months ago but before I weighed 140lbs.
It's my first day on the diet and I gained a pound. I know its not much but I'm scared it will happen the whole time.
This is what I ate:
Breakfast, orange juice and a slice of wholemeal bread.
Lunch, water with two slices wholemeal bread
Dinner, small bit of chicken curry and rice.
I went to my dance class for and hour and a half and I was full sure I worked off at least half the calories I consumed today! Any ideas why I gained a pound? What am I doing wrong? I'm just freaking out that I'll keep gaining weight. I need to be down to 120-130lbs in 5 weeks.
This is a huge difference to what I used to eat. I could eat anything I wanted without gaining weight but since I was put on the pill I just gained 10 pounds.

dont weigh yourself too often, try weighing once a week. the reason is that our bodyweight can fluctuate so much in a day, depending on what you take in your body, and what you release or dont release fromyour body. for example, you could go all day without eating, but if you drink 5 gallons of water in that day, and the water hasnt yet left your body, you will be weighing the weight of the water, plus your weight.

The pill can cause you to gain a little weight.
Eat lots of fruits and veggies, chicken, turkey and fish, Cut out all red meat, fried foods and sugary drinks and desserts.
Drink lots of water if you think you are hungry and never eat after 7 PM.
Start exercising by taking a walk every day for 10 minutes and build it up till you are walking 60 minutes a day.
Go on a 1200 calorie diet, splitting it up into 300 calorie meals, eating 4 meals a day.
You won't go hungry, you will feel good from exercising and you will lose weight.
That's how I did it when I started 5 years ago and have been at my ideal weight ever since.

Take a chill! Your body doesn't work that fast, you didn't gain weight because of your new diet. You gained weight because of your dance class, it's normal, it's your body's way of keeping up for now, it's storing extra fluids so it can be ready for your next workout. Cut your workout to under an hour, more is not better. Think long term, if you don't keep it enjoyable the habit won't stick. Trust me, once the habit sticks, you'll never want to quit! So don't make it so stressful on yourself right from the start, realize it's going to take awhile to change, stop weighing yourself everyday, and eat a better breakfast and lunch, get some protein in there for your muscles, and some oatmeal and veggies for your carbs. Your brain can't live on your diet. And someday you might need it so....
