I need help with my shower spout or faucet whatever that thing is called! Please help!?

Ok we need to change the faucet or spout whatever its called in the shower. Someone bumped into it and broke it so now water just leaks out of it and it gives less water when i take a shower and it is horrible. So what we try to do is change it but the pipe was like literally stuck on the faucet. So when we turned it to take it off the pipe just snapped and broke. It is made out of plastic. So there is like a plastic piece stuck within the shower wall pipe and we need to get it out so we can put a new pipe and faucet installed. But the thing is someone who did the bathroom never put the tape so the pipe piece is literally embedded in there. So i can't just pull it out because it is literally stuck. So is there anyway i can probably break that plastic piece inside, pull it out, or even loosen it just to get it out. I am not trying to hire a plumber and spend a whole bunch of money. I just want to take a shower in peace. So please somebody help me! I need assistance. I will buy products whatever it takes to get this fixed!

They make tools for that specific purpose. You can go to Depot or Lowes and get a set of pipe extractors or internal pipe wrenches. The shower part you seem to be referring to is called the shower arm and shower head. Use the extractors or internal wrench to remove the rest of the broken shower arm, then buy a replacement brass or metal shower arm and head. The size extractor or wrench should be 1/2". Be sure to use Teflon tape on the new threads. Should be an easy fix. Good luck!

here's what to do. If you can grab the piece broke off in the fitting and remove it with channel locks or pliers, then do that. If you cant it's going to be a chore but you can get it out by a couple methods. You can take a jigsaw blade (by hand) and cut the pipe in a couple location and pull it out in pieces with needle nose pliers or tweezers (for that matter). If you have a gas torch for soldering you can melt most of it away and pull out the remainder. Me personally, I'd heat it then cut it with the jigsaw blade. Do you a have an access panel on the opposite side? If you do then just cut out the CPVC above the fitting and glue on a new fitting. Regardless of how you get the piece out, buy a solid metal extension instead of CPVC to replace it. If you go to Home Depot they have them threaded on each end (at 1/2" size, which is what you want), sold in lengths in 1/2 increments. You most likely will need one between 3 1/2" to 4 1/2". It will depend how far into the wall the fitting is. The easiest thing to do is buy all 3 sizes and just return the ones you don't use. Use teflon tape on the threading into the fitting and into the spout. Make sure you run a tiny bead of clear silicone caulk around the spout when your done.

Need more info. The faucet is the device you turn to control water temp & off& on. The spigot is where the water actually flows from. If you broke the pipe stem off from the wall where the spigot attaches you may need help from a pro. You may have to expose the plumbing in order to replace broken pieces. The first place to look for access is on the back side of the wall containing the plumbing. If you are lucky there will be an access panel or a place to open up the wall without removing bathroom tile etc. Good luck ?

Sounds like you cracked the PVC pipe inside the wall!

You wrote: " But the thing is someone who did the bathroom never put the tape so the pipe piece is literally embedded in there." I cannot really even picture this.

Your shower will have several "parts". You have shower head, like below... (some are one piece, some handheld, etc) We are calling this "A"

    http://www.chinatraderonline.com/Files/Household/B...

Then you have the "neck" part. This is where you want teflon tape on each end. Especially where the shower head thereads on this piece. Keeps it from leaking & rusting. We are calling this "B"

    http://www.fdsons.com/images/plumbing/shower_arm_w...

Then you have the actual pipe coming up the inside of the wall & this is where "B" connects. We will call this "C". I looked all over & can't really find a photo of what I need.

Ok...so...seeing each piece & having a name for it....where is yours broken???

I saw your picture. You'll need a plumber. It could be a costly repair. What did you do, take spout off with a sledge hammer?

not sure what you are trying to do - sounds like you are trying to replace the cartridge but its hard to tell from the description and lack of proper nomenclature.

maybe you could post a pic showing what part it is that broke

    good luck
