I like Russel Wilson of the Seahawks.
They say he was too short to play the quarterback position (5"11), so he was picked in the third round of the college draft.
He was the third quarterback on the team, so he had to beat out a veteran and the previous year's starter for the job. He always says positive things about the team, he has a very strong work ethic, so to other players that see how hard he works, it speaks louder to them than any words he can express.
He has matured during this season, he studies the films, he strives to improve his game, he is the first one at the club house and the last player to leave. On the radio, they say he will be holding practices with the wide receivers after the season is done, on his own time.
He gives the city hope...
Seattle lost it's basketball team, our baseball team has finished last for the last three years, and our college team sucks. All we have is football, and Wilson gives us hope.
We have no respect from other teams, we are the laughing stock of football, but Wilson has turned the heads of the nation and gives us hope.
Go Hawks!

My favorite Gridiron player is probably Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, partly because of the confidence he had going into college and coming into the NFL; even after having been selected in the 6th round, he had the confidence of a first round pick. Not only that, but he certainly hadn't had the ability to back it up back then.
Partly because of his work ethic; critics called him basically a stick coming out of college. He didn't throw a tight spiral, was skinny, etc. In his third year, he was called one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Finally, because of his sheer ability now. He was never the most athletic quarterback in the league, and probably will never be. He still has many flaws, but no matter how many people may hate, there's no doubt that he's a practically unanimous Hall Of Fame pick.
I'm not saying he's perfect, because he's definitely not, but he's my favorite.

Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos - I think he's the prime example of a successful football player. No controversies, no allegations, great talent, wins, everything an athlete strives for. He's a good role model.
Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints- Drew is another good example of a successful athlete. He also plays for my favorite team, the Saints.
There are others, but those are my top 2.

Robert Griffen III- Washington Redskins. He was not afraid to be a rookie and showed has strength throughout the season.
Calvin Johnson-Detroit Lions. He broke a record for most passing yards and has a humble character
Eli Manning-New York Giants. 2 time Super Bowl winning, nice guy
Colin Kaepernick-San Francisco 49'ers. Was a second string and has alot of charisma
Ray Lewis- Baltimore Ravens. Funny and intense guy
