How do I convert Europlug to US?
I purchased a craft device (like a soldering iron) from the Russian Federation and I need a convertor / adapter so that I can use it in the US.
The seller described it as: soldering iron, european standard, 40 watt, diameter of heating source is 6mm; need converter 220v to 110v.
The prong shape is round, unlike the US flat prongs. The plug is printed with 6|250 on one side.
Anyone have information on the proper 'geek speak' for the name of this plug and the type of adapter I would need to look for?

You need a step up transformer, 50W or greater. Most retail converter transformers will have the correct fittings to plug into a US outlet, and have the outlet you need.

Sorry, but to adapt European-to -America you need to up the voltage from 120vac to 220vac otherwise all you have is a small heater. To raise the voltage use an isolation transformer & add the output to the line voltage. If you have a 240 vac outlet all you need to do Is change out the plug.
