1 AnswerYahoo Answers7 years agoCan you have real player without having the Real Player Cloud?
Can you have real player without having the Real Player Cloud Personal Video Cloud?
It used to be that in order to view the content of any web site you needed Real Player.
Real Player no longer exists? Now they only have Real Player Cloud which scans your computer and makes a list of any and all videos you might have on your computer and makes a list of all of the Videos you view on the web then reports that information back to the Big Brother at Real Player.
Is there any way to just have Real Player without the invasive reporting of Real Player Cloud?
3 AnswersOther - Internet7 years agoRealPlayer refuses to play unless I sign up for $50 RealPlayer Plus?
I have had this PC computer for about a year.
I never played a DVD, I put one in and was given a choice to open with either realPlayer or ?????.
I choose realPlayer. I don't know why, I just woke up and hadn't had my first cup of coffee. There was also a box 'conveniently' clicked for me "Always open this type of file with" Before I could 'uncheck' it, realPlayer opened. Now, when I try to open any DVD it automatically goes to realPlayer. That's a bummer because...
realPlayer refuses to play the media. First I am given an option to buy an upgrade to realPlayer Plus 16 for $50, when I choose "no thanks" another widow opens that wants all my info to try realPlayer Plus 16 free (then they will charge?). closing this window brings me back to start, I try to play the DVD, I am prompted to buy realPlayer Plus 16, and on and on.
I am unable to do ANYTHING on that page but sign up. In other words realPlayer refuses to play my DVD unless I pay and sign up for an offer, like signing up to hulu or buying some junk I don't need.
This is what I hate about Windows, I had a mac, you insert the DVD and it plays. Simple. With Windows I had to create a desktop shortcut just so I could open the dang hanger door for the CD/DVD drive. What is this world coming to when you buy a computer with a DVD drive only to find out you need to pay $50 every 6 months just to use the dang thing?
I have been unable to find any way to play my DVD on realPlayer without paying their upgrade extortion fee. If you know how to do this, please do tell.
I am wondering if anyone can help me locate the options window where I can choose the other option for playing DVDs, rather than using realPlayer. OS: Windows 7 Home Premium.
2 AnswersSoftware7 years agoDoes "Flash Player for Internet Explorer" even exist?
I hate Adobe Flash Player, it is always a hassle to install and I have to go thru such rigors to install it, I wish companies would stop using AFP.
Lately I have been getting an error to install "Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer"
Note "For Internet Explorer"
Does such a program exist? I thought all flash players were the same, or rather that there was only one flash player and it worked for all systems on a PC.
First, I have flash player installed and I have IE installed, but I don't never use IE.
Second, I am completely unable to find a download for "Flash Player for Internet Explorer", Please note I am not talking about "Flash Player" but "for "Flash Player for Internet Explorer".
I am able to find "Flash Player" at adobe but not "for Internet Explorer". I don't know why it has to be so danged difficult.
Any ideas on how to download and install this idiotic program?
3 AnswersSoftware7 years agoIs there an easy way to calculate FedEx?
I shop a lot on eBay and typically items are shipped USPS, which has a calculator, so I can find out if I have been over charged on the cost of postage.
I have been unable to find an easy calculator on FedEx, which to be honest with you, many sellers seem to use the FedEx account at work to pay for the shipping of their items, which is happening a lot lately.
Even so, I would like to be able to find out the the REAL cost of shipping a specific package that I received. Is there anyway to figure this out online. Or do I have to assume that the seller is ripping me off when ever they use FedEx, and leave appropriate feedback when they choose FedEx as a shipping option, because it is impossible to verify the actual postage.
PS. I know about and understand all the 'extra' costs for shipping like packing materials, time (which is against eBay rules to charge for), gas (which is also against eBay rules to charge for) and etc.
To be clear, this question is, "Is there an easy way to calculate FedEx?"
This question is NOT "What are all the EXTRA costs a seller has to charge, beyond postage, to mail an item.
1 AnswerOther - Internet8 years agoIs there a common font that usese the 'lighter' attribute?
For along time w3schools have listed the 'lighter' attribute for fonts styles.
There is also a very, very short list of "web safe fonts". Which seems a little nutty, don't the current web browsers and OS load all kinds of fonts?.
In all honesty, the lighter attribute (like many of the font attributes) seem useless to the extreme if the browsers on the web do not recognize the fonts.
I would hope by this time that someone has had the gumption to publish an 'unofficial' longer list of fonts that are recognized by most all browsers, if so does anybody know of that list and any recognized font truly useful to the 'lighter' attribute?
1 AnswerProgramming & Design8 years agoHow do I convert Europlug to US?
I purchased a craft device (like a soldering iron) from the Russian Federation and I need a convertor / adapter so that I can use it in the US.
The seller described it as: soldering iron, european standard, 40 watt, diameter of heating source is 6mm; need converter 220v to 110v.
The prong shape is round, unlike the US flat prongs. The plug is printed with 6|250 on one side.
Anyone have information on the proper 'geek speak' for the name of this plug and the type of adapter I would need to look for?

How come my answers keep getting removed?
The question was not deleted, just my answer.
Another answer, by another user remained.
I followed the guidelines.
No solicitation. No personal interest. Answer was knowledge-worthy.
I received no notice, just deletion.
There was nothing in my spam folder.
How come my Yahoo answers keep getting removed? This has happened several times before without explination.
What is the use of spending the time to write an extensive answer or tutorial just to have Yahoo remove it.
It's insulting!
2 AnswersYahoo Answers9 years agoWhen did WorldCat turn corporate?
Lately I have noticed links to corporate sites at WorldCat.org.
For instance when you look up a book tile, under the listing for that title they have a link-list for "Find a copy in the library" which will take you to a library which has that book. This is a great service, because many libraries have inter-library loans -even across the country and this is a useful service for finding those kinds of loans.
But lately I have been finding many of those links aren't to a library at all! but to a corporate site like Alibris.com; who are in the business of selling books. While I wouldn't mind if they sold advertisements on these pages in order to pay for the site, It seems deceptive to have a link to a library that really takes you to a sale site that is only interested in dropping a cookie on your computer and selling you a book.
What do you think? Is every non-profit service on the internet becoming a stooge for a corporation?
1 AnswerOther - Internet9 years agoMy question disappeared?
I posted a lengthy answer to a question here,
(The girl wanted help naming her art project.)
Now my answer has disappeared!
The question still shows in MY ACTIVITY tab under My Answers, but when I click on it my answer is gone but there is still one answer for the question.
She also added Additional Details
"I came up with a name, haha"
I checked my mail and there is no notice from Yahoo! about deleting my answer.
Any idea how it got deleted?
Any way to find out how or why it got deleted?
If the poster deleted it, is there any record of that action.
If Yahoo! deleted it is there any record of that action?
It gets so depressing answering questions here, how do I get over this, I mean I offered a quality answer that would have been an asset to Yahoo?

1 AnswerAdd-ons9 years agoIs there any way to report a listing violation at eBay for a reproduction listing in an antique catagory?
I keep finding reproduction items from one dealer in eBay listings under the Antiques category.
The "report" link has a 1,000 options to pick from the drop down menu. None of them offer a way to report for listing in the wrong category. Any help?
2 AnswersOther - Internet9 years agoHow do you find the USPS postage paid?
I have an item I won on eBay with a "Us Postage Paid Pitney Bowes" print out for a label. The actual postage has been blocked out. There is a number at the top by the blocked out price and a tracking number and a "Electronic Rate Approved" number. I want to know what the shipper actually PAID. Is there any way to find out?
Of course the USPS web site is NO HELP! Which is no surprise.
You can find out the 'COST' of shipping from zip code to zip code, but I need to find out what the shipper actually paid. I had to pay the postman extra money when I received it, but I also paid for shipping when I won the auction.
Other than writing the seller, is there anyway to track on line what was actually paid?
3 AnswersOther - Internet9 years agoI can't find my computer?
It has been very frustrating finding my computer in Windows.
I believe I have windows 7, I don;t know how to tell? I grew up on mac and windows makes everything so darn difficult.
Right now I am tying to clear a cache
On the one other windows computer I was on I believe you could just click a "my computer" icon and a widow would pop up with a tree diagram on the left of all the files on your computer. You could click on an icon in the diagram to see the contents.
Once on this computer I somehow opened a window with an address bar at the top with something like:
"C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items"
I know how to navigate once I get a page like that.
How do I get to that window, page, file or folder etc.?

5 AnswersYahoo Answers10 years agokeyboard quote mark fail?
The was a sudden change to my keyboard.
When I used to type in the quote mark it typed as " .
Now when I hit the key, it types the slanted quote mark. “
This suddenly occurred, it seems, because of my arthritic fingers
and Windows insistence on 'helping' me with numerous keyboard short cuts
I neither need or want, in other words, I seem to have hit the ctl, or alt key by accident
And I don't know what else, or how to undo it.
Since I do a lot of HTML this is a MAJOR problem for me.
Ignoring it is not an option. Working with it is not an option.
Does anyone know of a way to get my keyboard to always make
a generic quote mark rather then the left-right quotes when I type them?
2 AnswersOther - Hardware10 years agoFlash Player requesting permission to store information?
I am no longer able to stream from loombo.com
i get this pop-over message from Adobe Flash Player in the player frame.
"loombo.com is requesting permission to store information on your computer" with the option to Deny Allow. It doesn't seem to matter what I push.
When I push Allow/Deny, the flick starts, but then the same pop-over covers the frame again blocking out the the flick while it plays behind it. When I try to push Allow/Deny again the screen freezes. I have to find a way to open another Firefox window so I can Quit Firefox, that's the only way out.
1) whats wrong?
2) is there any way in hell that I can get Adobe Flash Player to never ever under any circumstances send me that message?
I have firefox
I have windows 7
I have the newest Flash Player
This just started happening
1 AnswerSecurity1 decade agoName of WWII film w/ Nazi shipwreck?
Does anyone know the name of this film, I believe it was taken from a play.
A Nazi soldier (from a U-Boat?) is shipwrecked and washes onto an English beach and hides out in a village there. This never happened in real life but it is kind of a well known movie because of it's sympathetic view of the German soldier.

My access to the .mozillazine.org forums has been blocked. I am assuming that this is because I was forced to install Google Chrome but now that I have deleted it, it seems that Google Chrome is not allowing me to access Firefox.
Does anyone know of a work around so that I can access the firefox site after un-installing Google Chrome?
Host 'www2.mozillazine.org' is blocked because of many connection errors; unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts' [1129]
