    Do not be ridiculous.

That is part of the governmental regulation that they place on gun shows.

It's usually one of three reasons (or sometimes all of them), though there are shows that allow concealed weapons to be carried at the show.

    1) Some areas prohibit the carrying of weapons where people have paid an entrance fee (NC is one such). There, gun shows have an exemption so people can bring in a gun to sell or to fit a holster for, but the gun must not be loaded.

    2) Sometimes the insurance is too high, so to keep the cost down, they (the event organizers) have to exclude weapons that are loaded.

    3) There is a safety issue. At a gun show, many people are shopping for holsters, alternate grips, and other accessories for their guns. When shopping for these, they will often need to get their gun out. Making a "no loaded guns" rule ensures that nobody gets out a loaded gun to try in a new holster, perhaps causing an accidental discharge in a venue filled with people.

I guess that occasionally guns do kill people, though usually you would have to blame that on the owner or user's negligence. If you have a car with bad brakes and crash into someone, then yes, it is because of the car--but why did it happen--because you didn't maintain the car. The only time you can blame a gun for killing someone is when it is an accident, and in most of those accidents, a little common sense on the part of the person storing or holding the gun could have prevented it. So even when guns do kill people, people are still to blame, not the guns. I think that in my whole lifetime I've heard one--one--anecdote about a gun accident where I really couldn't blame the guy (or the gun--have to chalk that one up as unlucky). Every other gun accident story I have ever heard just makes me shake my head and say "duma$$".

  • A gun is a ***tool*** not a sentient being. It is just a tool, much like a democrat. It cannot take action of its own volition. There *must* be some agency that initiates the gun's action and directs its output.

There is no hypocrisy here. The no loaded guns is to prevent ****accidental**** discharge of firearms, much like happened in North Carolina today (19 Jan). Had that person obeyed the rules of the gun show, he would have unloaded his shotgun before leaving his house with it.

That was human error and no fault of the gun.

Poison also kills, but we have it everywhere, like in our kitchens and bathrooms. The problem is that many people can't trust the person wielding the gun. I can't tell you how many times I've been at a shooting range and had someone nonchalantly and accidentally point a gun at me. It's a baby-with-gun phenomena that creeps people out. That, and the sponsors of gun shows don't want to be blamed for anything.

A gun doesn't kill by itself! Almost all gun-accidents are caused by people thinking a gun is unloaded when it is! As there is NO reason to be carrying loaded weapons at a show, it is just plain common sense to require them to be unloaded! NO hypocrisy there!

    Safety.

How hard is it to understand. Same reason seat belts are in cars. Safety. Apparently you have never been present at a gun safety course, shooting range, or gun show. You speak and offer opinions based on no experience.

A gun, whether loaded or unloaded, cannot kill anybody without a human being to pull the trigger.

Do you understand this simple concept?

Because people with trigger fingers go to gun shows.

Insurance companies won't allow loaded guns in certain venues because of the possibility of an accidental discharge.

Ive never seen a gun fire without someone pulling the trigger....
