Since we're in such bad fiscal shape according to the politicians,?
why don't they volunteer to take a pay cut? They spent the money we paid in, so why shouldn't they start admitting responsibility and cut their own pay instead of telling us we have to pay more in?

Because it is always "somebody else's fault."
The other party,
the other congressmen/senators,
the general economy,
ETC.

If you can put your brain around 16 TRILLION DOLLARS in debt, you may be able to understand why we are in such bad shape financially. We are lucky if we are able to simply pay the interest on that amount--which we owe mostly to China, btw. There are almost 50 per cent of our population that does NOT pay taxes. In spite of what the liberals claim, the wealthy pay a huge portion of the taxes we take in. Also, the wealthy are the ones who create jobs. Entitlements take up a very large portion of our economy--social security and medicare are the 2 biggest. More people are taking advantage of those entitlements that have NOT paid in very much money, if at all. Then we have 50% of our population OUT of WORK, so not only do they NOT pay taxes, but they collect some form of welfare or food stamps. The government NEVER runs thing efficiently, and their charges are high and wasteful, so why in God's name would we want them to run a car company or anything else. We need the private sector and small businesses to create jobs, but unfortunately, if you have noticed how many of those businesses have closed up due to Obamacare and increased taxes. Congress may not get a huge salary, but they certainly do get an amazing retirement--full pay even after a minimal amount of years. Any good homemaker knows you cannot become financially stable if you owe more than you earn.
