What's going on with this male cat?

Okay so my friends have two cats, an adult male and a 5 month old kitten and the male just started randomly following the kitten everywhere and he bites her when he gets close to her. it kind of seems like hes trying reproduce but we're not sure. she also hasn't been in heat yet. any reason why this could happen/how to get it to stop?

The 5 month old kitten is probably getting ready to go into heat and he is doing what males will do when they encounter a non-spayed female in heat (or near heat). Get the female spayed and the male neutered or you may have kittens in a couple months. Nature will take over.

When males cats act that way, it is usually a sure sign that they are jealous, and wish that they could undergo a sex change!
