How many people here on Yahoo Answers report abuse of the Community Guidelines?

So I did a search on this questionn,,,like they ask us to do first. Now, what do Seniors think about our category on the "report abuse" part of this game?

Most of the regulars on here aren't going to report each other. We all know that, but after reading the answers to your question I can see why we become overrun with those whose intentions are to disrupt the community with their hatefulness.

I'm not afraid to report when someone is being nasty on purpose. There are numerous questions about trolls, but if we continue to respond to them in any way other than the "enough is enough button," then we are entertaining them with snide remarks and they will be back to play. They want attention. Give them zip.

I do agree with the Answerer's last paragraph (in the link you provided) about spam, plagiarism, bigotry, etc. But the stuff about chatting & 'rate me' ?? is going too far, IMO.

I ignore the 'rate me' stuff, as I am not a shallow person. A pic tells nothing of the person them self.

    And chatting is fun.

I never have reported someone who Answered my ??, no matter how insulting the Answer was. But I HAVE reported Answers to others in extreme cases (a 14 year old girl once asked what fun games she could play at her sleepover party & the Answerer used very vulgar, explicit language in his Answer--so I reported him--& I'm shocked that Y!A did not automatically censor some of the words he used.)

It has to be VERY BAD before I report someone.

I will report spam, though. That's just annoying!

I haven't, but if I could figure out who keeps reporting me, I might like to give him or her a taste of the same medicine. I just posted an innocent question about cooking ribs, got 3 or 4 answers, and was violated. Someone here is vicious and very childish.

In the several years I have been here, I have only reported questions twice. One was because of a very pornographic and disgusting picture as avatar. I know I reported one other, but can't remember what it was. I have better things to do than to browse Answers looking for things to report. I'll leave that to others who do it so well. I also used to report spam, but there was so much of it I gave up.

I might report spam but that is about it. I leave it up to the others that are more easily offended. I have been on the receiving end of being reported sometimes up to a year later or after I got a BA. Thing is, many times there is nothing wrong with my answer. It appears as if someone hits the report button and they take it away until you challenge it. Sometimes the question itself is deleted!

This is part of the guidelines:

    "Reporting accurately

Gain more community influence:Members of the community who reliably identify and report questions and answers in violation of the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines help play a role in improving the quality of Answers.

Become a Top Reporter:Top abuse reporters will help us more quickly remove questions and answers that violate the community guidelines."

Since I always try to play by the rules and be as much help to Yahoo!Answers as I can, I report clear violations. Like you say, it's "part of the game".

On rare occasions I give a "Thumbs up", but don't thumbs down or report -- all of these actions are very much a matter of opinion. Although I know my opinion is ALWAYS the right view point, I very much respect others, and will go on to the next question if I'm offended.

The guidelines being somewhat subjective, I only report spam. Besides, it's time consuming and I appreciate the sly humor of some "inappropriate" answers.

Too bad you've already made up your mind. I'm sure a lot of folks would like to donate their "two bits worth". I don't try to abuse, but I certainly ignore as much as possible . Porn?? Just how do you do that with the printed word?? Kind of requires a dirty mind to make words into porn. Chat?? I'm not sure where you draw the line. Most of the other guidelines are very subjective, and are abused by over zealous users. Language that is used on prime time TV, and opinions that are not popular, are violated. This is nothing but censorship. I'm for totally open and uncensored communication. Anything else is un American.

It's supposed to be fun too!!

The only abuse I have ever reported is when the answer insults the asker for no reason at all. I have only reported one question (from Obambii), and that wasn't because of the question; it was because he changed his name to a thinly veiled obscene one and I thought it wasn't appropriate to this forum. I wasn't objecting to the question, but the obscene name.
