Is it ok for a catholic priest to get married or are they supposed to remain in position celebate?

    Typically no, they cannot marry and remain celibate. Deacons can marry and do not need to be celibate. There have been a few rare exceptions to the rule and I'm not clear on why. You can read more about it here. In my humble opinion, priests should be free to marry or remain celibate.

    Roman Catholic priests are unmarried.

    Ukrainian Catholic married men may become priests, though. My FIL was one, my nephew is a priest, married, with a family, and our current parish priest is married with a family.

    The Catholic church prohibits priests from marrying. They take an oath of celibacy.
