California state senators make 90k/year, Texas state senators make 7k/year. Is this why...?

Steve O, not only are you completely ignorant of the Texas Legislature, you are also a liar and a troll. We have far lower unemployment than California, lower taxes, no income taxes, jobs available, a budget surplus, low property taxes, Californians moving in by droves, and California businesses moving here almost daily. Our legislature meets once every two years for six weeks. We have the 16th largest economy in the ENTIRE world. Your state of California is broke, people and businesses are leaving daily, and you have extremely high taxes. So don't try to B.S. people. They can find out for sure that Texas is in far better shape than California. And as for state senators pay, we don't have career politicians in this state. The pay is to offset the cost of being in Austin for six weeks every two years. Hell, you can't get a written statement from a newspaper in California for $7K a year.

California is broke. You dont have a deficit. Governor Brown used a bunch of accounting tricks to hide the deficit. Its still there.

Texas is not crying and cawing to the federal government for more money like California does every day. If you were to do some research you would find out that most state senators make a very small salary because it is a part time job that doesn't take much time. This is one reason why the hard working people of the United States may have to bail out the high living state of California because they can't afford there live style.

In Texas they have real jobs like our founding father intended. They also only meet every two years, so there is less chance for the government to pass stupid laws like the ones they have in California...
