Brilliant idea for welfare recipients?
I know of a case of a mother of one who is on welfare and gets government assistance for childcare. Unfortunately, this person does not have a job and in my eyes really had no need for child care. She use to sit home and just watch tv until recently. The state is forcing her to do community service, several hours a day, until she finds a job to make up the hours she is now required to show proof of is she wants to keep her benefits. She complains but does it and I just think it is a great idea. People need to start doing what they can to improve their own quality of life instead of letting the state pay for everything. Thoughts?

that one is a great idea. They do need to monitor people better. I have a food card and a job, but I'm a single mom with three kids (my ex molested our daughters) and I make 2/3 of what the two of us together made, so I qualify and I take it for the care of the children. But I don't see how people can get away with taking advantage, the hoops I have to jump through 2 times a year to requalify are alot and very detailed. I couldn't cheat on it.

Everyone who gets welfare should be monitored more closely, there is just so much fraud. They should have to prove that they are eligible for benefits, not just lie to get them. Some that get caught have to pay back anything they received, but it does not happen enough. I've heard of people collecting benefits under a dozen different names or claiming they have 6 kids when they only have one.
