Canadian pennies retired?
So are they planning on removing one cent coins altogether or are they replacing copper pennies with one cent coins of another metal? It would make more sense to replace them with coins of a cheaper material. I don't like the sound of having to round up or down with every transaction. It's tedious and it's unfair.

The current pennies are Copperplated Zinc and have been since the 1980s. As of this year the "penny" is not being minted anymore. The penny is the foundation of the decimal currency we now have. The Conservatives are wrong to remove it from our currency. They say it'll save us a mere $11,000,000.00 per year but it's going to cost tens upon tens of millions taking it off the market and it will be years before the government will be able to recoup the loss of money. Despite the pittance saved by stopping the minting of the penny it will cost an enormous amount of money to buy back the billions and billions and billions of pennies minted the last five decades alone!
Aside from that it's going to cost the private citizen more that triple that amount every year out of pocket to make up for the cost of rounding down, and rounding up to the nearest five cent mark.
Idiots in the house of commons.
Next on the list is the nickel.
How much do you think that's going to cost the private citizen out of pocket? Because they're already talking about stopping the minting of the nickel now.

the government would be removing the pennies from our distant places money utilization. I purely shop lots of the pennies just to hold on as a bite of historic previous. I shop all of them up roll them and commerce them in for money or I take the money and supply it away to charities that way they are able to income from it extra and distribute it the place ever reason desires it. or you ought to use it for procuring small products which you relatively prefer. commerce all of it in get money and then use it for your self and additionally use to help others and you will experience extra suited approximately giving back. :)
