How long does it take to settle an estate in Pennsylvania?

Let's say an 80 year old woman dies who owns a house and some stock. Her house sells in 3 months. What's the average time it takes to disburse all the assets? How long, on average, til the estate taxes are filled and everything is complete? When are the estate taxes due? Do people usually wait for 1099s to file the estate taxes?

That's like asking "how big is the average box in a warehouse?" There is probably a minimum time period in which the creditors must be notified of the death, after which they will be paid and the residual estate will be liquidated and distributed. It could take 6 months or several years.
