Is the black slime on kitchen dish drainers harmful?

We keep getting black slimy stuff on my dish drainer. Is it harmful?

    I stopped using a dish drainer year ago, for this very reason! Now, I spread a large towel on my counter, put the dishes on that, and then hang the towel to dry.. after 2 - 3 days, I chuck the towel in the wash. I never have to scrub the dish drainer, always know the towel is clean and safe, and I am doing laundry anyway! Plus, the towel is cheaper than a dish drainer

    It is mold. Mold is harmful to breathe as it lets off spores.'

    Yes, it's mold, clean with some bleach water, rinse well.

    it's algae.by the sounds of it you need to take it to a jetwash.or buy a new one.

    It is MUCK and is full of bacteria. What more do you need to know?????

    can be.. that slime is a fungus, which can cause lung infections.
