Many Christians have read only parts of the Bible but have never read it completely thru. There is much deception today. Others have fallen for the lies that they hear and try to twist the scriptures to match what the world teaches them.

One can read the bible and take well from some of its teachings;

But not believe is some of the more atrocious parts.

Reseting the world with a flood

Comiting to genocide except for the Virgins

Killing a Tree because it would not bare fruit (even tho it was not in season too).

They are those who take it as a guideline rather then a way of life.

Because there are different types of Christian, just like there are different types of anything else. By 'believe the bible', I assume you mean that they don't take everything as absolute truth, and you'd be surprised at how many people treat it as such.

I personally believe that a majority of the bible is allegorical, not literal, and that the stories are lessons for living, no more, no less.

They have no substance and yes demonic possession is real in the bible.

Most 'christians' deny this and when their children come into contact with demons they think they are schizophenric.
