How would you respond to a public library course called "GIMP 101" ?
It's a computer class for GNU IMAGE MANIPULATION PROGRAM. But does that word GIMP belong on a billboard in 8 inch high letters next to a busy computing center ? Would you sue ? Offensive, isn't it.

all caps makes it an acronym thus acceptable however ill-conceived. Gimp would be offensive

Why is this offensive ? Ive never heard of a bad meaning for the word gimp. The only gimp I know of is back in the 90s as teenagers we used to make keychain designs out of a plastic like string called gimp. Get you mind out of the gutter not every word used for slang is just a slang word

Yes! Absolutely! You should hire a lawyer and sue the school and drive up tuition costs.
Also, the word "gimp" used to refer to someone with a bad leg, just so you know.

It would be foolish to sue over something like that.
I have, however, always found "GIMP" to be an unfortunate name for such a great product.

It's not a word. It's an acronym.
Most reasonably literate people know the difference between a word and an acronym and most reasonably educated people are used to course names being abbreviated.

No. You take it too far. Its an abbreviation. People upset enough about it will figure that out for themselves when they burden our law system with such crud.

Reminds me of those little plastic keychain decorations all the girls used to make when I was a kid.
