Phantom; Requiem of phantom - Final scene (spoiler)?

It was kinda shoking that Reiji suddenly was killed, but i think it was a good ending none the less. All the important characters is now dead, but each death was very meaningfull!

I read on wikipedia in order to get a better understanding about what actually happened. Apparently Inferno is now finished because of the final fight, but why do they have to kill Reiji?

It's a bit more complicated than that. He was killed for two reasons, the first was to prove that no-one ever betrays inferno and gets away with it. The second is more theoretical, but it's that his mission was done. All he really wanted was to restore Ein's memory and make her happy, and pull her away from inferno. Bringing her back to Mongolia gave her some of it back and it was the first time she'd smiled (and hadn't been acting). Since his own goal was finally realized, he no longer had a purpose and it was fitting that his story should end like that.

Mostly just my opinion, but I found it shocking too. :D
