What would cause more damage: Gas in a Diesel engine or Diesel in a Gas engine?

I'm just wondering what would cause more damage to an engine: Gas in a Diesel Engine or Diesel in a Gas Engine. Don't worry I'm not thinking about doing this. Nor have I done this in the past (you would have to be pretty stupid to screw it up in both directions). I just tend to think of weird questions like this.

Gas is more like a solvent than a lubricant. Diesel is more like a lubricant than a solvent. So, with that, gas in a diesel is bad - like running the engine without a lubricant. Too much diesel in a gas engine will make the engine run sluggish or not at all. Just requires the draining and flushing of the diesel fuel from the system.

A friend of mine did that to his truck. He was able to nurse it back home. Now that's why diesel pumps have green pump handles because it happened too frequently.

I would think gas in a diesel engine because the compression in diesels is far higher than in gas engines so the gas would have much more of a propensity to detonate and cause damage in a diesel. Diesel fuel in gas engines, however, would pretty much not do anything but flood it.

There are some autos that grant diesel engines or gasoline engines interior an identical form. Diesels do no longer generally make reliable racing engines to evaluation with gasoline engines. i've got no longer seen a Peugeot for an prolonged time, yet that replaced right into a strictly diesel motor vehicle. Citroen had a diesel form. of direction Mercedes Benz if widespread for diesels. interior the previous due 70's or early 80's GM tried to make diesels out of gasoline engines via elevating the compression and reconfiguring another factors and the result replaced into dismal, nonetheless they have been diesels. They did this with the aid of fact, on the time diesel gasoline replaced into far greater inexpensive than gasoline. the cost shot up with call for. Volkswagen makes diesel sedans that get super gasoline mileage- greater proper than some hybrids (GM, Ford).

Gas in a diesel will destroy the diesel. A small amount of diesel in a gas engine will just cause some sluggish performance and smoky ehhaust..

Source(s): Iused to drain fuel tanks for people who made this mistake and I would run the fuel I drained out in my personal vehicle

Diesel in a gas engine is always worse, but you don't want to do either to be honest.
