  • Help with Spanish Subjunctive tense?

I'm in the process of learning the Spanish subjunctive tense. I came upon this sentence in a practice quiz I was taking: Es malo que no le guste su trabajo. My question is: Why is gustar in the subjunctive. Is it because The speaker is giving their opinion about the other person's feelings toward their job. OR is it subjunctive because the "other person" not liking their job is an opinion. Which part requires the use of the subjunctive?

  • How to make garlic instant mashed potatoes with cloves?

So normally when I make instant mashed potatoes I just add powdered garlic to give it a garlic flavor. However, I have a whole bunch of garlic cloves I need to used. How would I use them to give garlic flavor to instant mashed potatoes. The only thing I can think of is to boil a bunch of cloves in the water I am going to use to make the potatoes. Will this work? How many cloves? If its not a good idea, give me another idea.

  • Liberals: I am looking for the best website to read and listen to liberal economists?

So, this is not a troll question at all. I am a Libertarian for the most part (though I do disagree with hardcore Libertarians on some issues), and I read many informative websites that give me "free market/Libertarian" commentary on economic issues (both current and historic). However, it is my goal to ensure that I am getting my information from all perspectives (left, right, and center) so that I can come as close to the facts as I possibly can (I believe all information is biased to one degree or another). Whatever my perspective is on an issue, I never want to be under informed/misinformed. I also thinks it helps to limit, not eliminate, the natural bias everyone falls victim to. I read many Libertarian sites such as www.mises.org, economicpolicyjournal.com, zerohedge.com along with others. I am looking for similar sites that can provide me with the liberal perspective/viewpoint (preferably from someone with an economics background who can get into the more advanced issues, factors, and data. Haha I'm an economics nerd so I love all of that no matter the perspective). I already read Paul Krugman, so I am looking for other perspectives. Who knows? If the material is convincing enough I may become a Liberal. Highly doubtful, but here is your chance to try and convert someone who will read these sites with an open mind.

P.S. I am interested in sites dealing with current events, but I would also like any sites that have lots of free literature available. I love mises.org because they have tons of famous books on economics by authors such as Ludwig Von Mises and Murray Rothbard available to download and print for free.

P.P.S I think its worth it for you as a Liberal to check out www.mises.org. At the very least you will have a better understanding of the arguments for free markets which will give you a leg up in a debate against someone who is pro free market. Since I am an economics nerd I tend to have an unfair advantage against my liberal friends who don't have the time to do in depth research on economic issues (certainly this happens the other way around as well if a Liberal Economics "nerd" debates and average conservative who is also limited in their available time to do in depth research).

  • Why does my computer keep disconnecting from the Wifi at home?

So I have an Acer aspire one netbook, which I love. However, recently I have had trouble connecting to my home Wifi sometimes. Sometimes it just won't connect at all and sometimes it connects but then disconnects 20 seconds later. I don't have this problem with any other Wifi networks which led me to believe that it was something with the Wifi network. However, no one else in my house has this issue with their laptops and my iphone never has this issue either. So I can't tell which side the issue is on or what the problem could be. Does anyone have any insight into this?

  • I have been awake for 40 hours, what can I take to help me focus better?

So I have been working on something really important and have been awake for about 40 hours. I only need to make it until around 2-3 this afternoon and I will be able to sleep for as long as I need/want to after that. I know its not healthy to stay up this long, so please keep that type of advice to a minimum (unless you feel you really need me to hear it). I am drinking coffee to stay awake and I have plenty of energy from that so there is no issue with energy or staying awake. However, I am having some difficulty focusing when I have to deal with some of the more detail oriented things I need to get done. Is there anything LEGAL and widely available (I am in Chile in S.A.) which I could take to give me 10-12 hours of better focus? Caffeine gives me the energy but I still feel spaced out which makes things more difficult, and thus take more time to complete which leads to more time before I can sleep. So if you are worried about me staying awake this long... the more you can help me focus the quicker I will go to sleep.

  • What would cause more damage: Gas in a Diesel engine or Diesel in a Gas engine?

I'm just wondering what would cause more damage to an engine: Gas in a Diesel Engine or Diesel in a Gas Engine. Don't worry I'm not thinking about doing this. Nor have I done this in the past (you would have to be pretty stupid to screw it up in both directions). I just tend to think of weird questions like this.

  • Advice on activities/lessons for a ESL learner who is a Lawyer?

I have a student who is studying to be a Lawyer and does an internship with a very big Law Firm. Her English is Advanced as far as listening and reading comprehension and Upper Intermediate for Speaking and Writing. The institute I work for did a diagnostic for her to start which told me her specific grammar weaknesses. I taught her all of those diagnosed areas of grammar weakness, as well as some that I noticed during our classes, and she knows them and can use them quite well now. I have her for 3 hours a day (in a row) 5 days a week and outside of the conversation, reading related legal documents and answering questions/summarizing, I am running out of ideas of what to do to keep the class varied and interesting. Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas for innovative/interesting activities to do with her than would provide value to a Lawyer in training? Please don't just say legal vocab, we are studying that already. I would be interested in any games/activities that I could work the legal vocab into for practice, but I would also appreciate activities that address Grammar, Pronunciation, Fluency/Have her talk more naturally, quickly, and smoothly. I am looking for activities that get her talking and/or writing. Thank you in advance. She essentially knows all of the grammar and its rules we just need to practice them for consistency and to get rid of some incorrect grammar habits she has gotten into.

  • I am looking for a list of legal terms with their Spanish translation?

I teach English in Chile and I am currently teaching a soon to be lawyer. She speaks English quite well, but she does not know the English word for most of the legal terms she uses in Spanish. I am looking for a list (as many as possible) of legal terms in English with their Spanish translation. She is a corporate lawyer if that makes any difference.

  • Why can I see the blades of my fan better when its darker in my room?

So I have a table top fan in my room and when the light is on in my room the rotating blades just look like the normal black blur you would expect. However, when I turn the light of and just have my tv on I get the effect where you can see the individual blades and they look like they are turning relatively slow. What is the physics etc... behind that?

  • Is there a last name which only one family uses?

I was thinking of how every last name I have heard of is used by more than one family. I was wondering if there is a last name out there which only one family in the entire world uses. It is okay if its a very large extended family so long as everyone who has that last name is related to some degree or another. For instance I know there are a lot of people with the last name Rothschild, but I think there are other families that are completely unrelated which use the name Rothschild. Clans or tribes don't count unless everyone is related by blood/marriage. Also none of that mess how all humans are related as we came from the same place. I know its true but, it doesn't count for what I am looking for.
