I have a worn out 3/8 fitting for checking the rear end, what to do?

It was worn out before I got it.

    the check plug can get damaged from techs checking it. there are a few ways to get the old one out. an extractor works well. it is not much more than a tapered 9/16 square stock steel that is tempered for the purpose, the 4 corners are set up with teeth more or less. these teeth grab the metal to improve the chance of getting it out.
