Program dish network remote to turn on Yamaha surround sound receiver?
I have a Yamaha RX-V673 surround sound receiver and I programmed my dish network remote to control it but it will only turn it off. It will not turn it on. I've read posts about this problem online but have not found a solution.
One step further would be to be able to press the red TV button and turn on/off the TV AND the receiver at the same time. Right now I have to press the AUX button and then press the red power button to turn the receiver off. I am not able to do these steps to turn the receiver on.

Cable and satellite TV box remotes are notorious for being difficult.
It's best to use them only for the box they come with.
I would use the Yamaha's original remote --
or the power button on the front panel --
to switch it on and off.
