Think in terms of health and social care. How could you promote independence for a client? One way would be to assess them on Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Can they wash themselves? Feed themselves? Do they need a low level basin to wash their hands? Do they need a walk-in shower instead of a bath tub? If they can do these things with minor adjustments in their home, or tips/advice on how to lift/hoist themselves out of bed without relying on someone else to be there then this is promoting independence.
Valued Life: If someone has all the help and support they need for example to be independent then they can value life again. Imagine not having any support or not knowing how to cook for oneself, quality and value of life decrease. Valued life is achieved through a "person centred" approach. So if a nurse, occupational therapist etc. is "caring" and "understanding" about a clients needs then that also demonstrates 'valued life' i.e. you value the clients life and want to help them to value it too as much as possible.
Hope that gives you some more idea without doing it for you.
