My cat ran off! What do I do?
She always tries to run off as soon as anyone opens the door, but normally if we don't catch her, she comes home in about an hour. She got out at 11 AM, and its now 8 PM. I've tried tapping on a metal can of cat food with a spoon (which is how I normally let her know its food time) shaking a container of catnip and treats, and calling her name. I've searched the neighborhood and looked thoroughly, but I can't find her! What should I do? How do I get her to come home?

First stay calm. It's fine and she'll be ok. Post an ad on cragis list, your face book and any other social sites were your friends can help. That is a good start. If you have any place near you to tell people to look or place to put up signs, this is great. Search some more and odds are she will come back.

How old is your cat? if she has lived there a while she would have no reason to leave as its her territory. When my cat was a kitten he would hide for hours on purpose, he thought it was a great joke I think because I got so stressed about it. If she not back by tomorrow I would contact your local animal services to let them know.
