Worst captain in the NHL?
Please, I would like to know why you think Iginla is the worst captain in the NHL.
And i'm thinking Sedin, Thornton and Ovechkin.
Landeskog no, he's doing a pretty good job over there. Colorado just sucks.

There are a few:
Henrik Sedin: Never understood why he was named captain. He is not a leader, and never seems to stand up for his teammates. Kevin Bieksa, or Ryan Kesler should have been named captain
Alex Ovechkin: His team has underperformed ever since he was named captain. He's not a leader, he has a poor attitude that has led to two coaches either being fired or leaving since he was named captain, with Oates probably gone after this season.
Joe Thornton: This one doesn't really need any explanation.

1 - Ovechkin:
Attitude and work ethic are just as important as the numbers, especially as captain. Ovechkin has none of those characteristics, along with declining numbers.
2 - Thornton:
When the going gets tough, Thornton runs away.
Sedin, Horcoff are also two good ones.

Ovechkin, He's has a bad attitude and was never controlled when he needed to be. That was a poor decision by the Caps to name him Captain. He's a good player but not a good captain (so far).
I'm a Pens fan but not really a Crosby fan (mainly because he gets shoved down your throat!). Sidney Crosby is not a bad captain. All you ever hear is how good of a captain he is. He always helps out and is there for his teammates and team.

Ovechkin- doesn't display leadership qualities, like players like Ryan Callahan, Dustin Brown, or David Backes, and there are players that deserve captain more on the Capitals(Brooks Laich, Troy Brouwer)

this is arguable... Mark Messier. in common terms subject worse than a susceptible, ineffective chief is a powerful opposed one. That replaced into Mess for the time of his tenure with the Canucks - a perimeter team with a narrow battling possibility whilst he arrived, his time there observed them plummet to the league basement. To make concerns worse, his biography with the aid of Jeff Klein lcearly pronounced that for the time of his time, he replaced into calling the photos, directing specific gamers to be traded. in spite of his previous fulfillment, no one interior the locker room respected him. Heading lower back to manhattan in 2000, he boldly promised to return them to the playoffs, some thing that by no capacity got here approximately. selfish as Yashin replaced into, a minimum of he by no capacity polarized an entire locker room like Messier - and he additionally by no capacity led his team staggering to the backside. Messier's achievements could place him on the suitable - yet he replaced into additionally possibly the only captain to absolutely destroy his very own team and by no capacity win lower back.

Mark Streit. John Tavares is a scoring machine this year, he should be the Isles captain no question. Plus Mark is not 100% efficient every game.

Hard to say as I don't evaluate other teams' captains, but I cannot be the only Caps fan who thinks that Ovi should never have been named captain. And I think his captaincy has distracted him from doing what he does best (and so has complacency).

Ovechkin- really bad attitude and not where he should be right now.
Landeskog just because he is really young.

Well, before I would have said Rick Nash. but thank goodness for Columbus he's gone
Now I might go with Horcoff, but Thornton is a very close second, almost tied.
