Rhinoplasty post-surgery tips?
I am a 20 year old male and I am about to have a rhinoplasty in a couple days.
1)I know this is general, but do you have any tips to make the recovery as smooth and quick as possible?
2) I like to work out a lot and stay in good shape. Since I can't work out for 3+ weeks, what do you recommend I do to avoid putting on fat and still have my muscle?
3) I will be going back to college a week after surgery. What do you recommend I do so that people will not notice that I had work done on my nose? What will my nose look like after a week? Can you tell a difference in the nose?
4) Can someone please describe the timeline of a rhinoplasty. I know all cases are different, but a general timeline would be appreciate. For example, information about how much swelling there will be after 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 months, etc
Any other tips/suggestions to make this a smooth surgery would be greatly appreciated. thanks

1. follow your surgeons advice, relax for a week or two, do as little as possible
2. try walking around, dont go running, go walking, dont sit down all day
3. there will be a noticable difference, you will still have your strip on your nose so it will be obvious youve had a nose job, you could try and claim youve broken your nose, but you are probably going to have to won up to it
4. there will be a little swelling, and bruising will remain for up to a month, yellow/brown/pink bruising depends on your skin color. after 3 months you should be fine and any scarring will be unnoticable. if you were a girl i would advise wearing a little more makup so people dont notice, in your case i would advise you change your hairstyle and hair color, it will distract people from the obvious change in you face.

After undergoing a rhinoplasty, it's recommended that you do not participate in any strenuous activity for the first several weeks. You can participate in light weights after a couple of weeks of recovery. After 3-4 months, about 60% of your swelling will be resolved. It's important to remember that everyone is different, and final results can vary. In some cases, it may take up to 2 years for complete swelling to subside.

You can get the best answers if you go to this excellent informative site: RealSelf.com. You can ask questions online (it's best to be detailed and very specific). It's free. Many international board certified medical experts - doctors, top notch plastic surgeons, etc. who participate voluntarily (no payments are made, so it's unbiased) will respond online with full information, cost details, etc. You can also have direct contact with those who respond.
Site is also used by many hundreds who have undergone rhinoplasty and a wide range of cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery, etc. Many share online their assessments of the treatments and costs, good and bad (and sometimes nightmarish) and some submit before and after photos.
You will learn how to find the best surgeon and how best to interview prospective ones. There are reports from many who apparently failed to make absolutely clear what they wanted and then were unhappy with results.
