Running shoes in the sand?
I live about half a mile from the beach, and I want to adjust my runs so that I head to the beach immediately, go for about 4 miles on the sand, and then head back on side streets. The problem is that I dont know if you can use regular running shoes on sand.
Many people recommend going barefoot, but I dont want to run barefoot for the half of the route when I am running on pavement. I guess I could take my shoes off when i get to the beach, but then I would look like an asshole carrying my shoes as I run. On top of that it just seems so inconvenient.
Are there special shoes or socks that I could run in? Or is there some other solution I havent thought about?

You can use running shoes on the sand but be prepared to have a lot of sand in your shoes and be prepared to have sore feet from the sand grinding away at them. You should probably finish on the sand, if anything. Finish your run, that is.
