  • How many hairs per square inch/centimeter does a Labrador retriever have?

I am doing a calculus project involving calculating the total number of hairs on my dog.

So, what is the density of hairs/ cm^2 or density of hairs/ in.^2 in a white labrador?

Thanks so much! And if possible please provide a scientific source.

  • How to make a "green light" costume?

I am going to a "Great Gatsby" themed costume party and I wanted to go as the green light as a joke. I wanted to make some sort of lantern shape that i could wear around my head, with either a single green strobe light on top or an assortment of green LED's throughout. Underneath I am just going to wear all black.

How would I build this rigging? I want something that is relatively comfortable, perhaps with padding, and I want the lantern to be around my head if at all possible, rather than above my head. For reference, I imagine 4 bars coming at an angle up to an apex, where the light is, a cone shape.

Thanks so much for any guidance.

  • Running shoes in the sand?

I live about half a mile from the beach, and I want to adjust my runs so that I head to the beach immediately, go for about 4 miles on the sand, and then head back on side streets. The problem is that I dont know if you can use regular running shoes on sand.

Many people recommend going barefoot, but I dont want to run barefoot for the half of the route when I am running on pavement. I guess I could take my shoes off when i get to the beach, but then I would look like an asshole carrying my shoes as I run. On top of that it just seems so inconvenient.

Are there special shoes or socks that I could run in? Or is there some other solution I havent thought about?

  • How to make N64 look good on HDTV?

I have hooked up my nintendo 64 to a new insignia hdtv. I adjusted the aspect ratio to be 4:3, the N64's native resolution, but it is still blown up too much. There are currently black bars on the sides, but I also want to add black bars on the top and bottom to produce the best image quality possible. Right now it is rather blurry and fuzzy.

Thanks so much for your help

  • I always correct people. Is something wrong?

This is going to make me sound like a huge braggart, but I am an incredible intelligent human being. I have a wealth of knowledge on many subjects, and my intellect surpasses most of my fellow classmates (grade 11) by far.

That established, I have a problem with correcting people. Whenever I hear incorrect information being exchanged, I spontaneously correct it, often in a condescending or pretentious way. I am in fact a very nice person, and I am normally rather calm and chill, but I sound like a jerk when I constantly tell others that they are wrong.

I feel like other people grow tired of my corrections and think I am trying to show off my smarts.

This is not the case. In fact, I make a conscious effort to not speak when I here someone saying something wrong, but it feels strange somehow.

The best way I can describe it is like an itch. When someone says something wrong, eg: saying "nucular" instead of "nuclear," I feel like something has to be said about it, or else this bad feeling lingers in my brain.

I don't think I am doing this because my brain thinks it is its responsibility to prevent the spread from misinformation, so I seriously think I might have some sort of social disorder, which is strange because I am a very sociable person.

So to any psychologists out there: Is there a disorder that could explain what I am feeling? Or have I just developed a bad habit that I need to break? Is there anything I can do for it?

  • Way to print individual hard cover book?

My chemistry teacher is retiring at the end of this year, and he is universally loved by all of his students and the other members of the faculty. As such, I am trying to organize a going away present in the form of a scrapbook. I was looking at shutterfly.com, but I also want to be able to include pages of quotes from all of his past students expressing their thanks. I also want there to be a few long articles, that might take several pages. Unfortunately, shutterfly is very limited in this regard.

My hope is that the book turns out to be around 70-80 pages, and is hopefully pretty thick. I only want 1 or 2 copies of the book, because it is just for him.

So, how would I go about organizing such a present? Gathering everything to put into the book is easy enough, but what program would I use to design the layout, page organization, etc.? Furthermore, is there a website I could print this book on? And if not, is there a printer in the Los Angeles area who would print a single copy of a hard back book?

Please help me, as I really want to make this the best going away present ever!
