What should society do with young people who murder babies?
I rest read a sickening story of two teenagers who walked up to a mother and her baby.
After demanding money at gunpoint, they then shot the baby in the head leaving the mother with a dead 13 month old son and a bullet wound in her leg.

RIP Antonio West of Brunswick, Georgia.
Both murderers have been arrested, one is 14 and the other 17. The older one will be tried as an adult but I believe the younger one should be too. Thoughts?

It is very difficult to know what to do. The main thing for now is to make sure they are not free to do this again. They need to be punished in a meaningful way, but it is hard to know what that should be. In general, I think the law is very soft on young offenders. In this case, the 14 year old will probably get 3 years of juvie.

Well, under Natural Law, and even according to Plato, the mother and baby, being the weaker, are obliged to forfeit their selfish needs of the few to the superior altruistic needs of the stronger many, so by that sacred teaching handed down from scholar-to-pupil through universities and colleges and associations for hundreds of years, the executioners should be rewarded for their selfless acts of faithfully performing their public duties.
I, myself, am a primitive savage, however, so I argue against those sacred rules of Human Civilization - In my faith, Moms should toss the "two teenagers" their purse with a 3 second 'pineapple' in it and be kind enough to help hose the street clean later.

The 17 year old was the murderer. He should therefore be executed.
The 14 should be locked up for 10 years.

I don't think we should decide if they should be tried as adults because we don't have the facts, especially for the younger one. (What if the older one forced him to participate and he didn't pull the trigger?)
I think we should wait for all of the facts, which a jury will have. As for sentencing, if they are guilty, they should NOT get the death penalty because then we will be killing children as well.
