Should I donate blood again?

So I donated--well, tried to donate--blood a few months ago at my school. I hadn't been old enough before so it was my first time. I'm not scared of needles in the least and have had blood samples taken (I know - big difference) so I wasn't worried about it. I guess they gave me the incompetent person because of that. Everyone else there looked petrified to give blood.

Anyway, I got a total idiot (no offense to him or anything - he seemed nice) who couldn't find veins and had to keep asking other nurses to come and see if he had found a vein. They all looked annoyed and had no problem finding it. The guy stuck me in my right arm, wiggled the needle around some, and declared that he had lost the vein. Bruise #1. Then he decides to try my right arm - same difficulty finding a vein. Sticks me in that arm, actually gets the vein but has left the blood pressure cuff on. Instead of tying the rubber thing around my arm like everyone else he left on the cuff -really tight too, and made my hand go purple and numb. Then he wondered why no blood was coming out and pulled the needle before I could say that it was because no blood was getting through my arm. Bruise #2. Bruise #2 was a large hematoma, I might add. Soo...I didn't get to give blood but got stuck in both arms, and I just wanted to go home and cry because I was sick of sitting on a chair having someone squeeze my arms to death and wiggling needles around in them.

My question is, should I give blood? There's another blood drive coming up soon. Is it worth it? Or am I going to get stuck with the incompetent new guy again and not be able to give blood? I'm actually kind of nervous now, because what happened last time was so terrible. My mom (an RN) even said the guy was an idiot and reported him to the blood center. I know it saves lives and everything, which is why I still want to do it. Should I?

I would try again. If you see that nurse there again, tell the person checking you in that you had a bad experience with that person and request someone else.

Yes, he probably won't be thete again, or if he is he got better ( fingers crossed) or you could ask another nurse to do it.
