Have shootings been increased, or is this media hype?
Hey guys, without getting political, I would like to find out a little bit about this whole gun situation. Lately, it seems like every other day shootings are occurring and are making national headlines. Are shootings on the rise, or is it just more of a focus? Also, if it is just more of a focus, why isn't this sort of thing a target all the time? I don't necessarily like hearing about it, but I know that this sort of thing sells so why do news stations wait until this sort of tragedy to start reporting it?

Gun deaths have been decreasing for the last 30 years (based on population).
The media is all about knee-jerk reactions. If it makes people pay attention, they will report it.

When you ask if shootings have increased, over what time period? If you mean the crazy mass shootings in schools and public places, for sure yes they have. The first one I ever heard about was at a college in Texas the guy was hidden in some tower on campus. It was either late 1960's or early 1970's.

In some areas shootings have increased-in some cities they have actually decreased.
But in general i believe its all has something to do with the TV being dominated with worldwide news networks such as CNN and Fox. 20 years ago if somebody shot 2-3 people in Chicago and you lived in Florida chances are you never would have heard about it. Today thanks to cable TV, the internet and 24/7 news coverage it becomes local news to us all.

You know how someone says "Hey look at that White car!" and suddenly you can't help but notice every white car? It seems as though every car is white...but in reality it's just that you're more conscious of them. They haven't actually increased in number.
Same thing with shootings.
Newtown has put shootings on everyone's mind so we seem to think they are more of them but in reality the number hasn't increased.

According to the conservatives and the NRA, there have been no shootings, and there will never be any shootings. All of the "shootings" have been staged, and are "false flags".
