Any other must see animes?

I've already seen Princess Monoke, Fullmetal alchemist (Movie and show, including brotherhood), Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro. I loved them all. Please don't give me a long list, I would much rather know your absolute favorites.

That basically sounds like a list of Miyazaki movies, with FMA thrown in.

    How about:

    - Clannad

    - Azumanga Daioh

    - Neon Genesis Evangelion

    - Chobits

    - Trigun

    - Oh My Goddess (2005)

    - Full Metal Panic

    - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (careful with the chronology and Endless Eight)

These are not necessarily the best animes I've seen, but they have relatively large historical and cultural value, i.e. anime fans are kind of expected to have seen many of these.

All those Miyazaki movies are movies, anime implies a series.... (at least to me)

Anyway, continuing with the Studio Ghibli works, I liked the Secret World of Arrietty,Whisper of the Heart, The Cat Returns (<--sequel to Whisper) and Naasicaa.

For anime series I would have to recommend Someday's Dreamers. Inuyasha. Record of Lodoss War.

    E's Otherwise.

FLCL: The ultimate in anime weirdness, and totally freaking awesome.

Cowboy Bebop: Quintessential space cowboy anime.

Code Geass: Like Death Note, but with emotional turmoil and mechs.

Baccano!: 1930s gangster anime, though I will admit it's not everyone's cup of tea.
