China, the US, and DPRK?
We all know that the DPRK (North Korea) has been doing some saber rattling lately (oddly enough, this practice comes from Chile). My question is, what would the US do if the DPRK managed a launch? Would the US try to intercept it? Or let it go in order to give a reason for massive retaliation (a-la Pearl Harbor)? I guess that it would depend on the target and projected yield.
If the DPRK managed to pull off this massive feat and the US decided to NOT intercept it....and it blew up....we all know what the retaliation would be. The DPRK would be rained on by W88 MRVs. I guess that my real question is: what in the world would the PRC do? They'd have to do something.
We all know that this is merely a thought exercise, the DPRK would never launch, they just want a relaxation of sanctions through threat (international extortion). But what if it went from the theoretical to the very fcuking real?

If the United States detected the launch and was capable of intercepting the missile in time, then they would certainly try to do so. Launching a nuclear warhead, whether it made it on target or not, is an act of extreme aggression, and retaliation would result from it. I think if North Korea started the conflict then China would be extremely hesitant to back them up in anyway. Even now China is reluctant to come to the aid of North Korea in regards to it's weapons program and threats towards the West. North Korea makes up a tiny tiny percentage of China's international trade, but the West makes up a MASSIVE percentage, they are not fools, they know what their economy is based on and they won't do anything to lose this trade to back up a belligerent rogue Nation.

The US would be drawn into war. If North Korea can do this it would send a signal to Iraq and other anti-US countrys to do the same.
I doubt this will happen even with the inexperience Jong-IL. Most think he is just flexing his military muscle with out knowing the consequences.
Then there is the ugly failure of N. Korea's attempted missle launch failures. What good is a missle launch that fails to make it, is horribly off course, or could not even make to further away places.

Good question:
China's plan of action, huh??
Well, according to me, soon after launching a nuclear weapon on the US, the North(as i said; 'according to me') will want to integrate with(collude/become a part of) China by giving up all of their territory(area) to China!!!
I know it appears highly impractical(impractical enough for you to call me a fool) but i firmly believe that the scenario will be something like this is.
Of course, China will have to accept this 'territorial-integration'. Two questions, might arise in your mind:
1.) China will not accept this North Korean proposal, as absorbing such a weak economy with so many malnourished people will seriously hamper/tarnish China's image as the 'world's fastest growing economy'**.
2.) Of late, the world is witnessing reports that, at the UN council meetings being held (particularly) this year, the PRC all of a sudden has started to strongly condemn the provocative actions of the North Koreans, and that China has also decided to stop being unwelcoming to the USA and start helping it out of the Korean peninsula crisis, by commanding the North to stop with their aggressive nuclear tests blah blah blah.......
Well, let me make this very very clear to you- China is an extremely cunning nation. Acknowledging all the facts, China will still throw her protective arms to the North. Why??
Coz, it can't afford to just see the North being annihilated by the the Americans and the Korea being unified under American-South Korean(democratic terms)... Now, when all of Korea will be unified, the Chinese again cannot and will not stand to bear the fact that the Americans will now be able to build army bases right under her(China's) nose! As, I've already stated above that the unified Korea will naturally be formed under the terms and diktats of South Korea.
Now, America will be able to observe(oversee) China more closely........
BUT, THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AS THE CHINESE WILL NEVER GIVE ANY CHANCE(FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.)
Therefore, China will step up and fight alongside the North Koreans against America and her allies; not just to safeguard North Korea's interest but also to prevent her from being closely inspected(and observed/checked) by her enemy, the US
Hope i helped :-)
