Be independently wealthy.

Because nobody pays unknowns to be travel writers. Travel writing is nearly an amateur pursuit. Who doesn't like to travel? Who wouldn't mind being paid for it? Buy a few books on writing in general. Grammar, Points Of View, Short Stories, and dialogue is ver important. etc... Your bookstore will be able to show you what you need. This is how I got started long ago. Join a writers group too, and even form one with your friends who enjoy reading and writing. Also, read more and look at how the authors form their sentences and punctuations.
