the place you get pierced at will provide you with the jewelry. i was pierced with this (which the stop provided): https://www.google.com.au/search?q=blue+bellyring&...
your piercer one again should provide you with the necessary information and i advise you to listen to he/she carefully as they know what they are talking about. also, don't be afraid to ask them a truck load of questions, they should be able to answer your questions and if they can't or dismiss them i would be looking else where to get your piercing.
never the less, here is some information/knowledge i have gathered from research and my own experiences with my piercing:
Tips:
1) eat before you get it done, you don't want low sugar levels, which can lead to fainting.
2) no baths, you can get an infection that way (basically your sitting in your own filth).
3) for the first 3 weeks i became very good at squatting, bending was extremely painful.
4) wear loose clothes, you don't want pressure on your new piercing.
5) wear your belt buckle to the side. one day my mum got her belly bar caught in her belt buckle while she was getting in the car. she said it was a very painful thing so, from then on mum and i have to wear our belts to the side.
Cleaning, what i did:
i took a shot glass (which i had sterilized with boiling water) put in some sea salt along with water (which i sterilized by boiling) and every few times, no more than 4 drops of teatree oil.
i would take a cue tip and dip it into the sea soak. i would clean around the top and bottom balls and maybe move it up and down. once that was done i would place the shop glass over the piercing and let it soak for 10-20 minutes.
Changing the jewelry
i have herd to leave the original jewelry in any time from 6 weeks to 9 months. i was told to leave mine in for at least 4 months but i changed it after 3. i would pick out a piece of jewelry you like and leave it in as long as possible. i also suggest not buying any bars till a few months after you got yours done, you don't want to be temped.
when it does come time to change the jewelry here are some tips:
1) make sure EVERYTHING is clean.
2) make sure that the bar you wan to put in is made from good material, not some cheap metal that could cause an infection.
3) make sure the ball is off the jewelry you intend to put in (don't want to spend forever taking the ball off while the piercing is exposed).
4) i also advise you clean the piercing very well for the first week or so, just to keep it safe.
Remember: it takes 6-12 months for a belly piercing to heal.
Swimming:
3 months after i got my belly pierced i went on a family vacation and went swimming in almost every body of water. from what happened to my piercing, here is what i recommend.
salt water and fresh water should be alright after 3 or 4 months.
salt water = H2Ocean/saline solution.
fresh water is clean.
spas, lakes and pools are more harmful so i would wait at least 5 months.
spas are normally shared by different people, and yourself. you basically sit in your and everyone's filth, a perfect place to get an infection.
lakes are still bodies of water, bacteria thrive in, very good chance you will get an infection.
chlorine is a harmful chemical to open wounds ie: your belly piercing.

They should have a ring for you and they should tell you what to use to take care of it, or they might give you stuff to take care of it. I used sea salt water and non scented antibacterial soap. You want to wash it about 3x a day. Be careful when you stretch and when you lay on your stomach it could be a little painful. My belly button ring probably took about a year to fully completely heal. It will be a little painful throughout the healing process.
