What would cause antifreeze to be leaking?

I have a '95 Chevy Silverado.

The antifreeze is leaking on the very front of the driver side.

The engine is not overheating.

What could be causing the leak?

Will it be expensive to fix?

Thank you

Get one of those fellows to hook a pressure gauge to your radiator cap and pump the pressure up a bit over at AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts. Once you do that, if the radiator has a leak or if a hose is going out on it that will show up really quick. It will also show if the water pump has a bad seal in it. From there, you'll know exactly what to replace, but that needs to be done before you do start having overheating issues because of low coolant.

wherever it's leaking at the very front of the driver side is the leak, which is usually caused by something that is in the coolant system.

Hope you're keeping the coolant full.

Can't know if it's expensive until you find out what's leaking.

I would suggest safely looking under your car to see if you can easily tell where the leak is comming from as suggested above. But if determining where the leak is comming from still poses a problem, i would highly suggest checking your water pump gasket. The gasket may have become brittle due to the constant use of the water pump cycling the engines coolant.

a hole in the cooling system will do that. or an old and brittle hose. you need to find where the leak is coming from. from where you are say it sounds like either the radiator hose is old, or the radiator it self is leaking. if it's hose its only a few busk for a new hose. if it's radiator it could be 150 - 250, maybe more if.

All you can do is get it up to temperature so it pressurizes the cooling system and shut it off so the fan don't get you. Get a real bright light and start looking until you find where it's coming from. It would be impossible for us to pin point where it's leaking from.

seek for something white residue. examine all your hoses because it is the place they are able to leak from. additionally examine close to the pulley the place the water pump is placed. additionally examine the thermostat housing it fairly is oftentimes placed the place you notice the optimal radiator hose enter the engine. That little around a million/2 executed metallic section with 2 to 3 bolts. it is the thermostat housing. it is different places too yet those are the main factors i might examine.

just poke your head under the truck and look to see where its coming from.. and thats most likely going to be your coolant hoses, they get old and bulge and crack which causes a leak. so either check it out yourself (and save some money!!!) or go to a mechanic and have them check it out. hoses aren't too expensive.
