You'll need a Bachelor degree in Medical technology. Some typical courses you'll need include anatomy and physiology, clinical chemistry, genetics, hematology, immunology, microbiology, organic chemistry and principles of laboratory management. You'll take courses in clinical lab science in order to gain hands-on laboratory experience.

You need a bachelors in (a NAACLS accredited) clinical laboratory science or medical technology. The last year or semester you end up doing clinical rotations in a hospital. After that you are qualified to take the ASCP exam and get certified as a medical technologist.
There are generally pre reqs you need to get into the program which will probably include a lot some math, biology (including microbiology), chemistry (including organic chemistry) and anatomy & physiology
There are other routes besides the traditional bachelors degree. You can get a 2 year degree in medical technology/clinical lab scienbce and work as a medical laboratory technician (MLT) and then work a few years before being able to qualify to be a technologist. And then there are also 1 year programs you can complete after completing your bachelors (usually in a science like biology or chemistry)
