Problems with the parental units, advice?

So, I am 18 (have been for about half a year now). I am going to graduate in May with honors ( C u m Laude) and my parents are still controlling about every aspect of my life... seriously... My dad basically decided which University I should attend. I worked my butt off to go to a mediocre school ( he says because it's cheaper) . I can't dye my hair anything they deem extreme ( he threw a *****-fit because I colored my hair ombre ), nothing extreme I may add. I also have always wanted to get a small nose stud, but as you could have guessed... daddy and mommy blew up in my face. " it isn't professional" "you'll have an ugly scar" " you'll only find trashy men who like girls the way you want to present yourself". What do you suggest I do? I have tried communicating with them but that ended up in an over-dramatic argument. I know some of you will say to move out but to be honest I will be a full-time student and working - but not enough to support myself. I understand I have to respect my parents and their rules while I live with them but I feel like they are getting worse with time -__-.

This is the bind: you're 18 and legally can decide things for yourself, HOWEVER, you live with your parents. The house is their domain so as long as you live there, you'll be getting their advice. Actually, I think their advice is reasonable, especially concerning permanent body alterations.

I would say just tolerate their attitudes. You'll probably be moving out in a couple of years anyway. I think that 20 years down the road, you'll look back and think that their advice wasn't so bad. Remember always that there are parents who don't care less about their kids. You are lucky in a way that they do care about you.
