The doctors that perform procedures will do better than those who's specialties, like family practice, are mostly based on office visits.

One physician told me recently that they would have to go from seeing a new patient every half hour to every 15 minutes.

Hospitals are recruiting overseas for doctors as they say there is a shortage. I would encourage any child who wants to go into healthcare to do it. You could work anywhere in the world.

Problem we have here is that we have a "sue crazy" society....doctors fear courts more than anything else in the world.

  • ... doctors are pretty much the richest people I know on average...

while all small businesses have struggles of some kinds... doctors seem to have the least trouble of all those I know...

and while Obamacare may increase the load some, I would bet it would still come out ahead of most in the end...

EDIT: pretty much all sectors have seen spikes in bankruptcy... it's the recession... and yes, it has hit even doctors...

I had a cousin quit medicine because of overwork. She didn't quit because she wasn't making money because she was! She quit because there was too much to do, not enough time to do it in, not enough support, you name it, the bull #### got too much for her!
