Does Obama see any limits to his federal power?

I am not asking for your opinion on the source. I am asking your opinion on the valid points brought up by Senator Cruz.

“When President Obama’s own Supreme Court nominees join their colleagues in unanimously rejecting the Administration’s call for broader federal power six times in just over one year, the inescapable conclusion is that the Obama Administration’s view of federal power knows virtually no bounds,”

Cruz, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on The Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights, said the cases “demonstrate an astonishing view of federal power on behalf of the Obama Administration.”

“If the Department of Justice had won these cases, the federal government would be able to electronically track all of our movements, fine us without a fair hearing, dictate who churches choose as ministers, displace state laws based on the President’s whims, bring debilitating lawsuits against individuals based on events that occurred years ago, and destroy a person’s private property without just compensation,” he said.

“Luckily, we do not have to live in that America,” Cruz added.

Update 2:

Joseph: Your clearly not very intelligent. I said that I am not interested in your opinion of the news source that quoted Senator Cruz. I am interested in your opinion on the senators comments.

The fact that he said them isn't in dispute.

    Yes.

The limits set by the Supreme Court.

That's the way government is supposed to work.

As comparison, Bush got smacked down by the SCOTUS a few times as well.

The so-called gag order has already been lifted. The issue is moot and there may be nothing for the ACLU or anybody else to undertaking now. Every credible news supply I've seen states that the pay limits practice only to banks that approved bailout cash. I came throughout a weblog that mentioned exactly the same factor you are announcing, however the link it provided did not aid the announcement. If you have one, i might love to see it.

Well, Shirazz, just a few years ago people like you were advocating the idea of the "Unitary Executive" theory of the Presidency, which would have effectively given the President--who just happened to be Bush--far, far more power than any previous administration in the areas of foreign policy and appointment of executive branch officials.

Now that a different guy is President, conservatives have changed their tune. Ever since 2009 you never hear any conservatives making arguments about how the Constitution gives the President far more power than the President now actually wields.

    Why? What changed?

    Hmmm....

I would be really interested to see exactly what rulings he is talking about. See, I don't accept what people say without asking for evidence. Was it "Obamacare"? Nope, that went his way. The only ruling I was able to find against him was when they struck down his recess amendments to the NLRB. I suppose you can consider that a usurpation of power, even if the Congress refused to approve any of his nominations, just as they have refused to approve any nominations to head the ATF for six years now.

Cyanide news service is not an acceptable source.

@sadcat. It is not the number of executive orders that have been put into play,

It is what the executive order says that is in play. Obama is governing by

executive order. That is how he by-passes the congress. Even Bush was

    not the damn blatant.

  • He resents the ones he does see. I think we are on the verge of seeing another Nixon-style unraveling of an administration.

    No.

And facts or prosperity have no relevance. All he wants is a set of bullet points for his legacy. He never talks in details, only in emotional rhetoric.

Source(s): Watching Obama from a perspective of someone who is 20 years older than him.

I really don't know what Obama believes many of his statements are contradictory. Regardless of that, this is the reason why we have separation of powers and co-equal branches of government.

I think he has his goals, but knows that there are laws that limit what he can do. At the same time, he's trying to circumnavigate these laws to meet his ends, and is not above trying whatever he can to achieve them, regardless of what the laws state, if that makes any sense.

  • so, you're not interested in my opinion but totally interested in Cruz's opinion... yeah... figures...

the court always does that... that's their job... there are always gray areas... they decide them, sometimes they don't go your way...
