Why do you think abortion should or should NOT be legal?
I'm neither Pro life OR pro choice...Really I am not interested in what others choose to do with their bodies...I'm not the biggest fan of abortion, but you will never catch me protesting at "abortion mills." Just because I would never do it doesn't mean I would ever try & tell the next woman not to have one..So I ask if you are Pro life why do you feel like women need to keep babies they may not even want? Sure the classic answer is "Adoption" but keep in mind there have been more cases of child abuse in foster homes...Shouldn't the decision of such a personal idea be left up to the women in question & not politicians & people who may not even know if the women getting abortions were raped? If you are pro choice, why do you believe abortions should remain legal?

Oh, you decided to broach this topic huh? I'm pro choice because most things in life are a choice, except in the case of sexual assault. A woman doesn't choose to be sexually assaulted(raped). If a child is conceived through a sexual assault, she should have the choice to end that pregnancy. It should not be a form of birth control because someone doesn't know how to not get pregnant. There's Plan B, contrapceptives, and birth control for that. Abortion should remain legal because it will be like prohibition in the early 1900's. People will just get them anyway and women will be butchered in the process. Also, problematic pregnancies where the woman's life is at stake and the best case scenario is to end the pregnancy is another reason abortion shoul remain legal.

Like you, I wasn't really sure how I felt about the abortion question a while ago, but I've kind of, sort of made up my mind. Abortion should be legalized, though there should be a 24 week limit.
I think about it like this, I'm a 17 year old in high school, I have good grades, and I know I can have a pretty good career in the future. If I were to get pregnant, how would I react? Honestly, I'd get an abortion. Not because I'm an evil b*tch, but because no one should be punished with motherhood for a mistake they made at a young age. What's more is that since I would try to terminate the pregnancy as soon as possible, the fetus would just be cluster of cells without a brain, nerve cells, etc. . . After five weeks, the brain and spinal cord will start to develop.
Also, back alley abortions (illegal abortions done without proper medical care) lead to deaths for the mother.
I definitely agree that the old men politicians have no business talking about abortion, I mean, hello, some may apply the, "No uterus, no opinion!" rule here.
Abortion should always be an option for a rape victim. It is inhumane to make a rape victim go through the trauma of being raped and giving birth to her rapist's child, even if she did give it up for adoption, it would still be a pretty traumatic experience. I don't think people understand exactly how horrific the crime of rape is. A baby would be the constant reminder of what happened.
What the question of rape boils down to is when you think life in begins. Some (religious folk) say that personhood begins as soon as conception, this is just not true, the fetus is barely a cluster of cells with a rapid pulsing considered a heartbeat. Pro-choice people say that personhood begins at the first breath.
Personally, I think it begins when the baby is far along enough in the pregnancy that it can feel/hear/has a brain, is moving its limbs . . .

If you are not for making abortion illegal.
If you would allow others to get an abortion.
You are pro-choice.
You deciding you don't personally like abortion, that you don't want one, is a part of being pro-choice.
It's when you say that you believe abortion shouldn't be available to anyone except in the certain circumstances that fit in your beliefs that you're "pro-life."
I think abortion should be completely legal without stupid interference from people who don't understand human rights, the differences between an embryo and a fetus, and who believe that pregnancy and children a punishment for sex rather than something to be had because you want them and will love them.
I know that there is absolutely no good reason to force people through unwanted pregnancy.
ZERO.
Even the people against abortion can't come up with a good reason.
The best they can offer is
"But it's innocent. And it needs to experience life. And it has all kinds of potential! It could be the next president, or cure cancer, or stop world hunger!"
No answer for why someone should be forced through something so life altering, that could harm them in so many ways, even kill them, to have a child they don't want or can't support . No good reason to put people into situations where they can be harmed or even killed if their in a bad situation.
It's all spent personifying a fetus and demonizing the person who is pregnant.
The stupid, murdering, selfish, whore who should have kept her legs closed and left sex to men if she didn't want to be pregnant.

Legal.
The consequences of making it illegal does greater harm to the woman. If woman really want's an abortion for whatever reason it may be (she is unable to cope with it mentally, she is unwell, she is majority depressed/psychotic, she had the child out of wedlock/raped may fear being shunned from society and family) a woman will either do whatever it takes to abort it herself or can go into serious depression and mental illness/stress/anxiety/suicide.
This does greater harm than good. Back street abortions will occur, which is dangerous, unclean, unsafe. A mother can abort the child herself again unsafe/unclean/dangerous - causing further damage to her body and possibly death. some women will harm themselves or even commit suicide because they cannot bare the thought of having this child. This used to be problem when it was illegal. Not forgetting the countless number of babies that were abandoned and orphaned or even killed as infant once they were born. I don't think history should ever repeat itself.
Aborting is such a complicated and serious subject it not simple as saying yes and no whether it should be legal or not. There are many aspect that have to be taken into consideration and the law has a pretty controlled abortion act. It is not "really" legal or "illegal" as such in the UK but if the women are thought to be mentally distressed/ill or physically harmed/ill then a doctor can allow for it up to 24 weeks. I think what we have so far is good.
It is not murder what an idiotic thing to say. the baby hasn't even fully developed. majority of abortions are done MUCH earlier than 24 weeks. meaning it very much still not a baby, no full development of organs or the nervous system or the brain. Nothing has been fully developed.

Illegal because all the arguments for it being legal have been shown to be logical fallacies, and the default, common sense approach is to prohibit the murder of all beings regardless of anything else.
Pro-Life Daddy: I've never had an abortion <no regrets> and I don't have any children because I've never been stupid enough to have sex without protection <also no regrets>. I believe in protecting my future children's lives.
Abortion: There is a consensus. A consensus that it should only be legal in very limited circumstances. From the pro-choicers' own pro-abortion article: http://www.gallup.com/poll/7606/Roe-Wade-Has-Posit...
There Is Nothing Divine About Someone Who's Had An Abortion

The job of a good mom is to strengthen her toddler to independence. Then the toddler ought to be able to make their own judgements. Abortion did not weigh very severe with god as he did not placed it interior the ten commandments. He did we are advised say "thou shalt no longer kill", yet looks to have allowed it in the kind of number of different circumstances(ie smiting philistines, sacrificing the first born, plaguing egyptians to lack of life, no longer suffering witches to stay, stoning adulteresses), that that's kind of demanding to ascertain him completely wholehearted in this one. i might want to under no circumstances opt to be dogmatic on what the Lord needs. that could be very conceited. i in my view might want to like human beings to take acceptable precautions to steer away from undesirable being pregnant. Abortion isn't usually a good element yet is acceptable prevented. merely from the attitude of a lady's well being and happiness. it will be a level of very last hotel.

well child birth hurts but then again EVERYONE know that sex makes babies so if you dont want babies dont have sex. abortion should only be considered if it is life threatning or the childs life will be hell but even then its still cruel. why take the risk. a baby is a baby no matter how big it is or how it looks. you will know this when you feel them kick inside your stomach for the first time. after that the mother gene kicks in and you will want to protect it. so dont be selfish and have sex if you dont want to have a baby yet

A innocent life is ended, no innocent live should be ended, however i can understand why someone would abort a child it it is known to have something wrong with it.
- mister-damusLv 78 years ago
I think it should be legal.
But I don't think it's right to use as a form of birth control. Legal, but not right.

Should be illegal.
If you can't keep your dirty skunts to yourselves, then you should deal with the consequences.
If you think about it, abortion makes you no greater than Casey Anthony.
You're just getting a head start.
