Do you consider the cross an "Idol"?
A friend of mine is a Jehovah's Witness and he said that people worship the cross, and therefore it is considered an Idol. The Bible says "Thou shalt not have any other gods before me" and he said the cross (either with or without the form of Jesus upon it) is considered an idol, and is a sin to worship because you're worshipping that and not God.
Since I am not Christian, I thought this was sort of odd. I don't see the cross as an idol, I see it as a symbol of the Christian faith. Does anyone else have any input on this? I'm just curious.
To clarify again, I am not a Christian, and I certainly agree that worshipping a thing representing a brutal and bloody death is baffling. But I've never seen it as anything more than a symbol.

The cross is not an idol- it is a symbol of how Christ died and rose from the grave for us.
Th JW are a group of people that are obsessed with what is wrong with everything
and they hate the Cross. If you look at their pamplets they show Christ suffering palefixion- the word crucifixion come from the Latin Cruce (Cross) and Facire
as he is shown nailed to a giant pole. they try to say the Greek word use means a stake but never a Cross. The problem with this is that Greek speaking Christians have always used the Cross.

That which is wrong is not the thing but the manner. The key word being "worship."
Ignorant, judgmental people will always jump up and down screaming that others should do this or should not do that. Simple people who can not think for themselves but are more like superficial automatons always make a lot of noise and are always judging others.
Whatever you worship above God will bring trouble into your life as you tend to go counter to the flow of life, which is Love. If I get hung up on the cross, it's a problem. If I get hung up on money, it's a problem. If I get hung up on getting, it's a problem. If I get hung up on religion, it's a problem. Because I put the importance of these things ahead of the principles of Christianity, which are Love for God and Love for self and neighbour. Many people think themselves good but are in fact judgmental, critical and condescending of others. God is not fooled.

Ask the JW's why they worship the watchtower bookselling Corporation pseudo-religion.
Most credentialed experts now rate the Jehovah's Witnesses a harmful cult.

It is a Christian symbol dating back to 8000 bc and is used as allusion in human communication systems constantly, mathematical modeling, and taken lightest at least implies a cross of at least two orthogonal, orthonormal, or dimensional representational separate lines of relation that come together and have the light of Christ at the intersection. Although 'cristcross rows' are early alphabetical relations, the cross need not be worshipped, but some writing upon it delineates it's reservations, maintains the sanctity of it as symbolism, and resurrects the cross as if in a time of origin of little correlative credibility as anything less than an effigy of the self, the Christ, and thy common sense between all of these simple and loving endeavoring.

The cross is a symbol of a sadistic, grotesque, bloody human sacrifice. Why Christians are fascinated with it is beyond me.

No one "worships" the cross. Only the ignorant would say that about any Christian. The cross is a reminder of Christ Salvation. Your friend is totally wrong.

Hi
You're right, it is a symbol. No Christian worships the cross, but we do worship the one who died on it.

Yes, it is an object of adoration.
It is an integral part of the worship of Christians in Christendom.
During some religious seasons the crossed is draped in different cloths
The cross is venerated by some faiths in Christendom
The cross is used as jewelry to keep Jesus close to their minds, or for protection.
The cross is to Christendom as the flag is to Nationalism............an idol.
The veneration and worship of the cross or crucifix is called Staurolatry, see bad fruit #13

Edit:
You wanted the truth, I gave it to you. That is why the word staurolatry exist. They idolize the cross.

well id take commandment #2 in this case
You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
also what is weird or morbid is taking someones death weapon as a symbol.. so if Jesus was shot by firing squad, would people have little golden guns in their churches or wear them around their necks as charms..
if he was hung, would people use little golden nooses? or what if it were the gullitine.. would they wear little golden gullitines?... still its morbid to wear death symbols..
