What gender of cat should I adopt?
Well I'm adopting a cat sometime in the next couple of months. Preferably a kitten so we can bond more, but really, it's whatever feline jumps out at me and steals my heart at the shelter. I want a cat that is cuddly. I know not all cats like to cuddle, they have their own personalities! However, from everyone's personal experience, which gender do you find more cuddly? I volunteer with tons of cat rescues and often I go cuddle with the cats to calm them down. I don't really get an appropriate reading of who is more cuddly, as the cats are all very scared at the shelter.
I know in the end it depends on the cats personality but just as a general idea! :) Also, my cat will be neutered! I don't need to add to the over flowing cat population!
Thanks! :) 😸

Week you kind of answered your own question sub-consciously, males are neutered, but I would suggest female cuz for one, you wouldn't have to worry about the whole issue of the male spraying around the house and I've had several females over the years and they seem the friendliest plus my Mom & both daughters have females. But as you say you have to find that one baby that seems to bond with you immediately. You'll know! Good Luck on your pick...

I recommend you don't get a kitten. Their personalities change so much over the course of a year. 3 months ago I adopted a cute cuddly kitten whom I thought would be a lap cat since he loved sitting in my lap and sleeping with me and now he's a complete nightmare. He bites nonstop, runs around the house tearing things up, he is no longer cuddly. It's sad. He's 7 months old now (and fixed). If I could go back, I would have adopted an adult cat who's personality is already set.
If you have a specific type of cat you have in mind (lap cat, cuddly, ect) you NEED to adopt an adult or nothing is certain.

the gender doesn't matter,it really depends on the personality. At some shelters the have a cat personality system and choose a cat with the "love bug" personality

It's a iffy process when getting kitten because when i first got my one kitten he hated cuddling at first but as he got older he began to cuddle me alot more. So i'd recommend a male cat because all 3 of my male cats like cuddling but it could be diffrent if you are not a female owner.

in my experience male cats are much more loving and caring than female cats which do have a bit of an aggressive side.
