Why are Chicago Police no longer allowed to carry the Sig p series of Pistols?
I have looked every where and can't find out the reason behind the Chicago Police not allowing the Sig P series for duty. Does anyone know why?

Justin,
Please name you source for this info. As far as I know the Sig P series is still on the list as long as it has been modified with the "Chicago Block", which is an added safety feature if you drop the weapon. They have made Glock 17 and 19 mandatory for the academy and probational officers since 2008. They cite better price and easier to teach inexperienced shooters for the reasons. You buy your own weapon, and after 18 month probation you have a list of approved pistols in 9 mm, ,40 cal or 45 cal. which you can change to. The Sig P is still on the list of pre-approved weapons list as of 2010, and I know of no change.
