Does a Fitbug work without a subscription?

Want to get one and need to know if I need to bother getting a subscription

    Included in your purchase is a one year subscription. Following that year you will no longer have those resources at your disposal unless you re-subscribe.

    Now FitBug has made it free unlimited, check once with their customer support. <a href="http://www.fitdango.com/products/fitbug-orb%22%3EF... pedometer</a> is my favorite activity tracker and I had it from FitDango.com. Feeling happy with the gadget.
