Why are people so mean and judgemental on yahoo answers?

Soon as you ask a question and it is honest they tell you how terrible and evil you are for being open. Are people really this harsh to others all the time?

Yes, but the internet communication makes it easier, as they can interact however pleasant or discontent as they please and you could never hope to punch them in the face.

There is no fear on the internet, for the gains outweigh the consequences.

If we used to have large open forums or constant physical interaction as was commonplace in the past, things may be different, or you may have to deal with a bunch of bananaheads publicly, AS WELL as digitally. Who knows.

There are many kind hearts among the cut throats, so fret not. Just know it'll take longer to find them.

Two reasons : 1. People are basically mean and judgmental because the like to think they are right and 2. Because they have anonymity . They don't have to worry about being slapped in the head for being rude . Paper tigers ...

Yahoo is no longer a place for discussion , it has degenerated to throwing negative comments . As far as a true question and answer forum maybe 2 % are actual attempts to answer .

There are a lot of people on YA ---who use it as framework to push their negative attitudes on to others. At the same time there are a lot of people who are on here truly to help others. I also would say that there are a lot of people that ask questions that don't really need to posted on YA...questions that are in essence pushing their own personal beliefs in order to change anothers belief rather than for true open discussion.

It's the keyboard coward phenomenon. People who wouldn't say anything otherwise find it easier to be rude when they're behind the safety of their keyboards. It's all sad really.

The internet takes the human element out of communication with others. You don't hear tone of voice or see body language so it makes it easier to give into the cowardly urges of anger and hate.

Nah...it's human psychology. since they are 'hiding' behind an avatar, sometimes a pic and/or name that doesn't specifically define them, they feel more freedom to vent and they also like to demonize anyone with a different POV
